I cannot imagine what would have happened if I had come to a Nar-Anon meeting and no one was there to help me. Not only are the meetings there to give me experience, strength and hope and to help me through my difficult situations, but they are there for me to help others when they are hurting. This cannot happen if I stop working the program and stop attending meetings. So many people have come into my group and then never came back, or left after their crisis passed.

Without Nar-Anon members who continue with their program even when times are good, there would be no meetings. One of the best feelings I have experienced is helping another person through a crisis, or knowing that they appreciate the fact that I was there to listen. The help and support of a sponsor or other member who is there for me when I am hurting is immeasurable. I remember these things and choose to be there to greet new members, and to remember what it was like when I first came into these rooms.

Thought for Today: That is what Nar-Anon is all about – one person helping another, giving back what was so freely given to us. In order to keep what we have, we must give it away.
