One of the greatest things about the Nar-Anon program is how it can change our lives. I think of the members in my group who share how they have grown and become happier. Some are taking on new challenges in their lives; some are doing service in the group. One member said he tries to think about what he would be doing if he did not have an addict in his life. That helps him to focus. I see growth – I see recovery. I have learned to have better relationships in my life by becoming more involved in Nar-Anon. I can contribute in so many ways by doing service work at the group level and above. I have confidence in myself from the love and support I have received in Nar-Anon. I can see the progress I have made, and I am finally getting my life back. I have learned to set boundaries, take care of myself and make changes with the help of my Higher Power. Today I am able to make decisions in my life that I had never dreamed would be possible.

When I came into the program, I felt I had a life-changing power available to me if I was willing to take it. Working the Nar-Anon program has brought recovery into my life. In order to keep my sanity, I must be serious about my recovery. I have the ability to think about my decisions and the outcome or consequences of my actions and reactions. Suddenly I see a new person emerge and changes are taking place in my life.

Thought for Today: “Keep coming back, it works if you work it, and it won’t if you don’t, so work it because you are worth it.” This is the saying I repeat to myself to continue making the changes necessary in my life, and to share with the newcomers in the group so they can gain the hope and courage to return to our meetings.“Be not afraid of going slowly; be afraid only of standing still.” ~ Chinese Proverb
